This section highlights some of our special needs cats.  They include cats/kittens with special health needs (weeping eye, special diet, URI), permanent deformities (missing legs, blind or limps), very shy personalities or those otherwise overlooked by people looking for the perfect cat or kitten.  Most of these problems resulted from neglect or abuse.   These cats and kittens make wonderful pets and companions but need special people who will give them the time, patience and attention  so they can thrive and show how great they can be.    If you are interested in meeting any of these cats or kittens, please call our shelter at (530) 642-2287 and we can have the foster parent contact you.

Scotty -  This 15 month old orange male cat is full of energy, activity and fun.  As a kitten he developed a very bad and persistent upper respiratory infection so he spent about 4 months in a cage by himself being medicated.   When the health issues continued,  he was placed in a foster home so individual medical care and attention could be given.  Now, several months later, he has recovered, with one exception.  He has permanent damage to his left eye causing him to slightly squint and has daily seeping from that eye.  He has been examined by an animal opthamologist and cleared, knowing these symptoms are permanent.

  He is so full of energy and play – something he missed while in a cage.  His current foster buddies are older and do not want to play.  He loves to play by himself with all kinds of cat toys, bottle caps, shoes, balls, etc., but he is eager to find a home with other young cats and/or children , so that he can fully enjoy himself and make up for lost time.  He is sensitive to new people and will take a little time to adjust to a new home.  Once he feels safe and comfortable, you can’t stop him.  He loves to be around and with people and other cats.   If you can look past his eye problem and give this little guy a chance, you’ll find a most playful family member.

Jax -  A  year old beautiful Siamese male cat.  Beside my obvious beauty, I am friendly, energetic, playful and strong.  I am somewhat aggressive toward other cats and dogs, so a one-pet-only home is best for me.  I love attention, playing with toys and having room to run around.  I am a very strong cat and better suited with adults. 

Nelson -  A four year old attention loving black male cat.  I’m large at 19 pounds but still love lap time, petting, brushing and playing with toys and people.  I was spoiled by my foster dad.  I need a home without other pets.  I get jealous and aggressive toward other pets because I want to be your one-and-only “special buddy”.  Someone with the love and patience to monitor his food intake (and loose weight) would be wonderful.  If you like large, friendly and loving adult cats, I am the guy for you!
